Get A Garage Door Price Quote
In order to get a garage door price quote that is accurate, there are certain pieces of information that we will need to know. We at Anderson Garage Doors are always happy to come to your home and give you a price quote at no cost to you. When we come to your home we are sure to get all of the necessary information and you can get exactly what you are looking for, but some customers prefer to get quotes through email. Here are a few tips to help you when getting garage door quotes.
#1- GET A CORRECT DOOR MEASUREMENT. Whether your home is newly-built or already existing, the steps to measuring the garage door are the same. Begin by measuring the width, from one side of the opening to the other. Next measure the height, from the ground to the top opening. A typical double garage door would measure 16x7 and 16x8, or 18x7 and 18x8. Most single garage doors would measure 8x7 or 8x8. Garage door openings vary in sizes and many homeowners customize the openings to fit RV’s or off road vehicles. Older homes sometimes have odd sizes too, so be sure to get the correct door measurement.
#2- GET A HEADROOM MEASUREMENT. Headroom is the amount of space you have above your garage door, inside the garage. Measure from the top of the garage door opening to the ceiling. Headroom should be 12″ or greater to install a garage door but in some cases there may be less headroom. In these cases low headroom kits can be installed. These work for headroom as low as 6″. Anderson Garage Doors are the experts in helping you resolve low headroom issues. If you have questions just give us a call.
#3- DO YOU WANT AN INSULATED DOOR? For your accurate price quote we will want to know exactly what type of garage door you are looking for. Garage doors come as non-insulated, vinyl back insulated, and steel back insulated. Single-layer or non-insulated garage doors are made of a single sheet of galvanized steel. Double layer or Vinyl back insulated garage doors have a steel skin on the outside and a layer of polystyrene insulation bonded to each section on the inside. The inside vinyl skin looks nice and is quite hard. The triple layer or Steel back insulated garage doors are steel on the outside and steel on the inside. These are the top of the line, have the highest R-value and are very strong. Vinyl back insulation kits can be installed into open back garage doors at a later time if your budget doesn’t allow for that now. #4- CHOOSE A STYLE, COLOR AND WINDOW OPTION. There is a huge price range for garage doors, depending on the style and color that you choose. When getting garage door quotes, be sure to do your homework and have a style and color in mind. You can visit our website and check out all the different options. Click on the picture you like and a brochure pops up which gives you all the different door styles, colors and window options. If you find a door you love, email us the picture and we can help you find it. Things such as wood grain colors and additional windows will add more to the cost. We have many customers who ask for a price with and without windows to compare the costs. If the garage door you want is too expensive, ask for other options that look similar. We can help you find the right garage door for the right price.
#5- OTHER IMPORTANT QUESTIONS. When getting garage door quotes, don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions. Your garage door is an important part of your home both functionally and aesthetically. You need to get it right! Here are a few more questions to consider asking: Do I need weatherstripping? Does the price include installation and sales tax? How long will it take to get the door in? Is there a cost to remove and haul away the old door? When can we expect to get it installed? What type of payment do you accept and when do I pay?
Getting garage door quotes can be easy and accurate if you do a bit of homework first. Ask the right questions and always have the measurements in writing.
